Talks begin with feds this week on delivery, storage
The Madera Irrigation District will begin talks this week with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation for the potential delivery, storage and return of federal water into and out of the Madera Ranch groundwater bank.
“It’s really the start of a negotiation for them to participate in our water bank project,” said Tommy Greci, who became MID’s general manager in March. “It’s the kickoff to our water banking.”
MID hopes to partner with the bureau to enhance the water supply reliability and flexibility in Madera County by banking Central Valley Project water in the Madera Ranch groundwater bank that opened last year.
