A bout with cancer and research on the disease in 2009 led Mario Daccarett to develop and pursue a passion to make sheep milk into cheese.

He and his wife of 28 years, Sandra, make a variety of cheeses from the milk of their flock of sheep in Chowchilla.

Compared to cow’s milk, sheep milk is sweet, thick and creamy, he said.

“My goodness, there was so much information on the Internet about it (healing properties) and I asked myself, how can I get some of that milk,” he said...
