MCH gets $1 million donation

The Madera Community Hospital Foundation received $1 million from the local Red and Nancy Arnold Foundation this week -- the largest single charitable donation in its history.

Robert C. “Red’ Arnold and his wife, Nancy Pennycook Arnold, were longtime Madera residents who established the Arnold Foundation before their deaths to ensure that their community could continue to thrive, said longtime friend Anna da Silva.

“We’re very pleased that they chose our hospital to give to and that they thought that much of our community,” she said. “Red and Nancy recognized that the hospital is a vital part of our community.”

Red Arnold was a successful farm real estate agent. His friends recall that he was very frugal, but very generous. He and Nancy were married in 1949 and lived in Madera until their deaths...
