Man suspected of passing bogus checks

A 42-year-old man who admitted to being a Fresno Bulldog gang member was arrested in Fresno on a warrant for passing bogus checks in Madera County, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Department.

Michael James Prendez was arrested about 11 p.m. Monday at Clinton and Marks avenues. He was wanted on a $25,000 warrant for passing fictitious checks totaling more than $14,000 at the Family Food Center in Madera, sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said.

Prendez was turned over to Madera County Sheriff’s deputies, who transported him to Madera County Jail.

The Fresno County native remains jailed and is being charged with three counts of passing a fictitious check and two counts of burglary....
