Man struck by car on Ellis Street

A pedestrian in the crosswalk on Road 26 at the intersection of Ellis Street was struck and seriously injured by a car, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened about 2:40 Thursday afternoon, according to CHP officer T. Hiura.

The victim, a 65-year-old man from Madera, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and was listed in stable condition with a fractured ankle and possibly other injuries. The man’s name was not released.

“It was a slow speed (impact) with the witnesses reporting the man went over the hood of the vehicle and then onto the ground. The driver said she did not see the pedestrian. The man thought the car was going to stop,” Huira said...
