Man shot in drive-by; one suspect nabbed, two on run

One man is in custody and his two accomplices were still on the run Tuesday, following a drive-by shooting late Monday night.

Twenty-year old Jaime Agustin Garcia of Madera, a self-admitted gang associate, remained jailed Tuesday — booked on suspicion of attempted murder.

The victim of the shooting (whose name is not being released) remained hospitalized, according to Erica Stuart, Madera County sheriff’s spokeswoman.

According to reports, Deputy Richard Gonzalez was on patrol near Ellis Street and Road 27 when he heard shots fired and then saw a car with three occupants speed away. Gonzalez followed the trio and saw one of the passengers toss a weapon from the car...
