Man with medical marijuana card arrested

A man who was allegedly abusing his medical marijuana card privileges was arrested Tuesday after narcotics agents found 432 marijuana plants, four pounds of processed pot and a car reported stolen out of Redding at his home on Road 19 near Avenue 7, officials said.

Adalberto Romero-Ferreya, 22, of Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico is being held in Madera County Jail on an immigration hold, said Madera County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

Romero-Ferreya reportedly showed agents from the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team a medical marijuana recommendation card to show that his cultivation was legal, and said he didn’t know there was a limit to growing up to 99 plants, Stuart said.

The 432 plants valued at $518,400 violate the county’s medical marijuana ordinance, which dictates where and how much medical marijuana can be grown in Madera County, Stuart said...
