Man with knife taken to hospital for evaluation

A man was taken to Madera Community Hospital for evaluation after waving a knife at people passing him near 9th and B streets.

The man was seen waving the knife and then ducking in and out of yards, according to those that called police. He was reportedly naked at one point, according to a witness.

Officers found the incoherent man early Sunday and convinced him to give them the six-inch knife and another sharp piece of metal he was brandishing.

Neighbors said the man lived nearby and had a history of mental problems...
