The 27-year-old man killed in a traffic collision Wednesday in Fairmead was identified Thursday as Carlos Rodriguez Castellon.

Castellon reportedly lost control of his Nissan Pathfinder and struck the back end of a parked tractor-trailer on Maple Street near Yates Avenue about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver’s side door of the SUV struck the semitrailer, pinning Castellon inside. Fire crews used the Jaws of Life to cut him out of the SUV, but he was pronounced dead by paramedics, officials said.
