Wanted on felony warrants

A wanted man in a reportedly-stolen truck led Madera police on a short chase Wednesday afternoon that resulted in a five-car crash with minor injuries.

Officers attempted to stop Edward Woods, 30, near the intersection of H and 4th streets around 11:30 a.m., Cpl. Mark Trukki said, when they recognized the white Chevy truck he was driving as stolen.

Woods fled from police and sped onto State Route 99 northbound, Trukki said, before he exited at the Cleveland Avenue off-ramp about a mile away and slammed into four other cars at high speed.

“I don’t have specific details yet but based on the pretty significant damage to the front end of the truck, I would say he was definitely driving over the speed limit, at least,” Trukki said...
