Sheriff John Anderson is asking for the public to help find a lone gunman, responsible for shooting another man, leaving him in critical condition.

The 20-year-old victim, a Madera man, remains hospitalized at this hour, clinging to life. The sheriff’s department did not release his name.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Parkwood Avenue shortly before 10:30 Thursday night, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

According to investigators’ reports, a Hispanic male knocked on the door of the residence and asked for the victim by name. When the victim went to the door, and as soon as he saw the visitor, he reportedly tried to slam it shut, but was unable to close it before the suspect opened fire.
