Man badly injured by farm equipment

A two-tractor collision near an alfalfa field critically injured a man Thursday afternoon near Columbia Drive south of Eastside Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man suffered major crush injuries and was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. His name is not being released pending notification of family members.

CHP Sgt. Jon Johnson said the incident was considered an industrial farm accident, and was also under review by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other state authorities.

“Initial reports say the person operating the tractor pulled out of a field about 1:30 pm and was struck and then run over by another piece of heavy farm equipment, possibly a hay baler,” Johnson said...
