Maderans in College: Dougherty leads Master’s College

In a 3-2 victory over Vanguard College-Costa Mesa on Sept. 22, former Madera Coyote Samantha Dougherty had a game-high 22 kills for The Master’s College-Santa Clarita. She also led the team with 21 digs.

Dougherty set a career mark with 29 kills Tuesday to lead 13th ranked The Master’s to a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Westmont College. She also had 10 digs in the match.

Dougherty leads the team with 249 kills and has played every set of the season for The Master’s College (16-2, 3-1 Golden State Athletic Conference) Dougherty also has 176 digs, second on the team, with 22 blocks and a team-high 26 aces. Dougherty has the top five marks for most kills in a match this season including team highs in three sets (20), four sets (29) and five sets (22).

Ben Cowger (Liberty) had three tackles for Sacramento State in a 35-13 loss on Sept. 22 against North Dakota. Punter Justin Weldon (Liberty) had five kicks for a 37.2 average, including two inside the 20-yard line...
