Maderans bask in lit parade, wine stroll

With the holiday season starting up, thousands of people filled the streets of Yosemite Avenue to view the 19th annual Candlelight Parade and Wine Stroll in downtown Madera.

On a clear Thursday night, the large crowd watched all kinds of decorated and lighted vehicles carrying members of a variety of local businesses and groups down Yosemite Avenue around to 6th Street in a big community event put on by the Madera Kiwanis Club.

“It was an excellent turnout and it was in between storms,” said Kiwanis member Jim Bryan, who was one of the main organizers of the parade.

Beyond the spectacle of 36 entries that ranged from school marching bands to a Christmas-themed trailer carrying Santa Claus, spectators also could partake in the Merchants Open House...
