A winner in the annual Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts exhibit received yet another surprise Wednesday when she was awarded $100 for her work being the people’s favorite.
Madera resident Griselda Tello’s canvas of lavender flowers also won the judge’s favor last month, earning her first place in the irrigation, row and field crops category. She received the People’s Choice award from Madera County Arts Council board member Margaret Diebert.
The oil painting was part the 20th annual Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts exhibit, which was chaired by Diebert and concluded on Saturday.
The six-week art show at Circle Gallery was open to the public and visitors were asked to vote for their favorite entry. At least 250 people cast ballots, according to Madera County Arts Council board member Abigail Anderson-Shine, and Tello’s “Lavender Farm” piece received the highest number of votes...
