Since coming to America, owner Joseph Pereyra of the new Corner Grill at 530 W. Olive Avenue had always dreamed of owning his own restaurant.

Pereyra was born in the South American nation of Uruguay, earned a degree in architecture and drafting, and fell in love with a girl from the States. He moved to this country 25 years ago.

“I fell in love with an American girl, and I fell in love with America,” said Joseph.

Today Joseph and his wife, Patty, enjoy living and working in Madera. They like going to the movies and Joseph’s hobby is cruising around the country on his Suzuki 750 purchased locally from Madera Honda-Suzuki...
