Madera woman accused of embezzling

A 30-year-old Madera bookkeeper was arrested Wednesday for allegedly embezzling almost $30,000 from two companies, Madera County Sheriff John Anderson announced.

Melissa Judy Ann Pedersen, who also uses the last names Wallis and Pederren, was booked into county jail Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

Sheriff’s Detective Adam McEwen launched an investigation in November when the Sheriff’s Office was first tipped off about an alleged case of embezzlement, said Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart.

The victim at that time, Valley Fixtures Installers, had hired Pedersen as a bookkeeper from October 2011 to October 2012, Stuart said...
