‘Puss in Boots’ to kick off Movies in the Park

An outdoor showing of Puss in Boots will kick off the City of Madera Parks and Community Services Department’s efforts to introduce a new free weekly event to Madera.

The PG-rated animated movie featuring the voices of Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis and Billy Bob Thorton will be projected onto a 20-foot blowup movie screen in the Lions Town and Country Park amphitheater Aug. 24 at 7:30 p.m., said recreation supervisor Ozzie Naranjo.

“We have a great sound system and the amphitheater area can comfortably accommodate about 300 to 500 people,” he said. “There are backup plans in place if we get a larger turnout — we can just shift the screen to the side a little bit and accommodate any size.”

Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Alcoholic beverages and pets are prohibited...
