Reducing and solving crimes is the job of every officer in the Madera Police Department. Detective Sgt. Robert Salas of the Madera Police Department has spent his entire adult life in service to his hometown.

The 1973 graduate of Madera High School has worn a badge on the streets of Madera for more than 33 years. After high school, Salas earned an associate’s degree at Fresno City College and a bachelor’s degree at Fresno State.

He began his law enforcement career in 1981 with the Madera County Probation Department. While working full-time he attended the FCC Police Academy at night and joined the department in 1987. Through the years he has continued training, including an extensive course with the FBI in Quantico in 2006.
