Madera Police Chief Michael Kime was honored Wednesday evening by the Madera City Council on the occasion of his retirement.

“I know you have been watching over the city for the past 10 years and keeping us safe,” said Mayor Brett Frazier.

“Ten years certainly flew by,” said Kime, who came to Madera after a 34-year career with the Sacramento Police Department.

Kime was praised for his professionalism and for his efforts to modernize the police department and carry out the department’s mission for the city...
