Madera players trying for nat’l team

Twelve players from the Madera Patriots baseball team will compete in Manteca on Tuesday and Wednesday for the opportunity to play on the United States 14-under team.

The tournament is a National Team Identification series and is sponsored by United States baseball in an attempt to find baseball talent.

The Patriots, coached by Lance Leach and Mike Molina, will play three games on Tuesday along with eight other teams from Northern California. They open the tournament at 11 a.m. against Hard 90 of Sacramento. Later in the day, the Patriots play the Chico Aces at 2 p.m.

They conclude the tournament with a game against the Sonoma County Rebels on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. All games are at the Big League Dreams park in Manteca...
