Madera National 11’s to play in double elim

For Mark Palacios, it’s no secret as why his Madera National Little League 10-11-year-old All-Stars team is championship bound in the District 10 double elimination.

“We’ve advanced this far because we’ve worked hard,” Palacios said. “We practice hard for six days a week and conditional three days in the morning. It just takes a team of pretty good athletes to make it this far.”

With a hard-fought 7-6 win over Riverpark American, Madera National advanced to Sunday’s District 10 championship game in Chowchilla at 6:30 p.m. and will await the winner between Riverpark American and Riverpark National.

“We’re in the winner’s bracket in the finals, so we’re doing well and hopefully we can finish it off but we still have a lot to do,” Palacios said. “The Central Valley has good baseball and you could see it’s not easy to win. You have to have good athletes and must train hard to have a chance.” ...
