Madera mourns Barden

A shining example of service before self has been lost with the passing of John Jerome “Jerry” Barden of Madera. The native of Sacramento died earlier this week.

Barden served for more than 50 years in the Madera Rotary Club.

“When Jerry moved to Madera in 1962 to work for Pacific Bell he was active in the Kiwanis Club,” said fellow Rotarian Don Roberts. “He was invited to become a member by his employer who suggested if he liked his job he needed to join Rotary.”

Barden retired as office manager for Pacific Bell in 1982...
