Madera library to showcase puppet performance

Thanks to another donation from a local anonymous benefactor, Madera residents will have an opportunity to see a live marionette performance on Thursday at the Madera County Library main branch.

Marionette shows display a rare and unique form of puppetry that is rapidly disappearing from the modern world, said Madera County Librarian Ellen Mester.

The Fratello Marionettes, a Danville-based group, will perform Carnival of Animals, a trio off classic fables set to a score written by French composer Camille SaintSaens in 1996.

Puppeteers use intricately handcrafted marionettes to tell the tales of “The Three Little Pigs,” “The Tortoise and the Hare,” and the “Ugly Duckling” without dialogue...
