Madera to kick trash to the curb

Starting next week, Madera residents will have the opportunity to clean out their homes and leave unwanted items on the curb for collection at no extra cost as part of the city’s annual Curbside Cleanup event.

The city is split into over a dozen sections with different pickup days during the program — starting Monday and ending June 13 — where residents can place anything from old refrigerators to tree stumps on the curb for collection.

All items must be placed on the curb, not in an alley, before 6 a.m. on each home’s pickup day or an extra $80-per-hour fee will be charged.

Yellow fliers stamped with the specific pickup day for each of the nearly 12,000 homes eligible in the program are in distribution by the city’s Public Works department...
