Madera High senior earns Eagle Scout ranking

A senior at Madera High School has earned the highest ranking in the Boy Scouts of America organization with Troop 331 of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Zach Larkin, the son of Michael and Trina Larkin of Madera, received his Eagle Scout ranking Sunday from Tim Lawrence, his Boy Scouts varsity team coach.

His Eagle project included preparing a plan, seeking donations of materials and designing and constructing three large public benches at Howard School in Madera. The new benches were painted blue and placed adjacent to the bus loading zone.

Actual construction included relocating large bushes and installing the benches on concrete pads. He supervised a large number of scouts from Troop 331 in completing the project...
