Madera grad returns home

After working for his family’s company for the past seven years, Adam Hughes has opened up his own company in Madera.

Hughes, who graduated from Madera High School in 1998, grew up in the welding and painting industry. His grandparents founded Weco Welding Supply in Fresno and now his uncle owns the shop. The family decided to expand to Madera and helped fund Hughes’ shop, which opened in April.

Along with partner Greg Hockert, Hughes opened Mammoth Oxygen at 177 E. Almond Ave. The store will host a ribbon cutting ceremony today at noon for its two-day grand opening event.

“We are a welding and auto body shop supply store,” Hughes said. “We also have helium, medical oxygen, and stuff for the doctors and dentists. We have all the welding gasses.” ...
