Two Madera County farmers donated a $2,500 award to Crossroads Christian School in Madera on Friday.

Richie Iest and Ed Fikse won this year’s America’s Farmers Grow Communities award from the Monsanto Fund, which allowed them to donate to the local nonprofit organization of their choice.

Farmers in 1,245 eligible counties in 39 states were each awarded $2,500 this year, Monsanto Fund officials said.

Through the Monsanto Fund, the Monsanto Company, a seed and agriculture products retailer, helps strengthen communities where its employees and farmers live.
