There’s “Nuttin’ but Fun!” going on at the 2013 Madera District Fair, with this year’s theme honoring some of the Central Valley’s largest agricultural products — almonds, walnuts, and pistachios.
The Exhibitor’s Handbook, containing information on competitions available, guidelines for submitting items, and all applicable rules, is now available at local retailers and offices, including: Madera District Fair Office, 4-H Office, Evans Feed in Madera, Valley Feed, Madera Chamber of Commerce, Madera County Library, Madera Ranchos Library, Chowchilla Fair Office, Evans Feed in Chowchilla, Mountain Feed & Nursery in Coarsegold, Oakhurst Feed, and the Sierra Star office.
Competitions will be held for everything from crafts and cows, and flowers to food; there is something for everyone. Competitions are available for both individual and group entry and include numerous competitions for class projects. County educators are encouraged to utilize fair-time competition as part of their curriculum. This is a great way to get students involved in the community, and get them to utilize their creativity, organizers say.
Entry forms must be submitted by Aug. 13...
