The Madera County Historical Society will launch the Christmas season with its annual gala on Dec. 8, in the Madera County Courthouse Museum and will continue to spread holiday cheer for the next two weeks with an open house.

The old-fashioned Christmas celebration, from 5 to 8 p.m., will feature a dinner and dessert buffet with a no-host bar. Tickets are $30 per person.
