Local agencies who want to increase the public’s access to fresh fruits and vegetables are set to open this year’s Madera County Farmers Market in three weeks. The market will take place at Courthouse Park from 4 to 6 p.m. each Thursday night, except during the Fourth of July holiday.
The Farmers Market season begins on June 20 and ends on Aug. 15.
Each of the eight market evenings will be themed and rubber ducks to represent each will be given away. Entertainment will include live bands, activities for children such as face painting, water balloon toss and a treasure hunt. There will also be giveaways according to the themes. Organizers plan to theme the last Farmers Market as “Family Literacy Night” and give books to the first 100 children who show up. The Madera County Farmers Market is organized by First 5 Madera County and the Madera County Public Health Department.
