Madera bands place high in competition

Both local high schools were among the top point earners in an annual competition over the weekend.

Madera High School’s marching band and color guard took second place, followed by Madera South High School’s band, which took third in the AA class of the Heart of California Tournament of Champions.

Clovis North was first place in the tournament on Saturday, which included 12 bands from high schools throughout the Central Valley. There were six bands competing in the AA class and a total of 12 bands competing in three classes.
