County teamwork beats City squad
The hype was how were the County baseball team going to deal with the depth of the City pitching staff at the 36th annual City/County All-Star Baseball game.
In the end, though, it proved that teamwork beats out individual stars as the County team pulled out the win in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat the City 5-4 Friday at Chukchansi Park for the County’s first win since 2007. The victory gave County head coach Jay Pruess (Kerman) his second biggest win of the year. His first was his first Division IV Valley Championship two weeks earlier.
“This feels great,” Madera shortstop Zak Taylor said. “This was tremendous, especially from all of us coming from small towns. We scrapped it together and showed the City who the real team was.”
