Matt DeFina to tell story at 4th St. Church of God

Former Maderan Matt DeFina, who received a double lung transplant on May 15, 2012, will be speaking Sunday morning at 10:00 at the Fourth Street Church of God, 222 North N Street.

DeFina, whose 34-year fight with cystic fibrosis came to a victorious end at the Stanford Medical Center, had just a few hours notice to get prepared to receive the organs that someone had given up.

Forty days later he was working out in the gym, walking on the treadmill, riding the bike and taking in movies with his wife Denise and daughter Gracie.

DeFina's story is one of courage, challenge, and victory in the context of a strong sense of faith. He will be accompanied by Denise and Gracie...
