Longtime dentist Moran dies

Retired local dentist Dr. Greg Moran died Friday of natural causes. The longtime Madera resident was the eldest son of the late Bob Moran and Gloria Konrath. The Moran family, including his brothers Mark and Scott Moran, moved to Madera from Washington state in 1956.

In the 1960s, his parents owned Madera’s radio stations KHOT-AM and later KUUL-FM. In his youth Dr. Greg, as he was called by many, worked as a disc jockey playing rock and roll music, while trying to compete with Fresno’s popular rock station KYNO-AM.

He and his brothers attended local schools and in 1967, he graduated from Madera High School. He completed his undergraduate work at University of Southern California and graduated from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, according to longtime front office assistant Kris Kascht.

Returning from college to his adopted hometown in 1975, he assumed the dental practice of Dr. Richard Hardin with an office at the corner of East 6th and South B streets, near downtown Madera. The practice moved to a new office building on Almond Avenue in 1981...
