Film, panel discussion planned

O’NEALS — A foothills charter school in O’Neals, 27 miles northeast of Madera, will host a free film screening and panel discussion — with refreshments — as part of a national campaign to enlist and unite efforts against obesity and hunger.

The screening and discussion will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Room 303 of Minarets High School, 45077 Road 200, said organizer Albert Ellis, a Minarets senior, president of Leadership and varsity basketball point guard.

Pizza, beverages and popcorn will be provided for free for those who RSVP and so receive a Family Food Ticket, which must be brought to the event to be redeemed.

The 2012 documentary “A Place at the Table” is rated PG and features appearances by actor Jeff Bridges, Bravo reality TV show “Top Chef” judge Tom Colicchio and others. As of Friday, it had a 90 percent approval rating by film reviewers and a 72 percent approval rating by audience members, according to the Rotten Tomatoes website...
