Thomas Keitz, a member of Boy Scout Troop 118, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in a ceremony at the Madera Ranchos Senior Center.

The top Scout ranking is achieved by only five percent of all Boy Scouts, and takes many hours of dedicated effort to achieve.

Keitz earned 21 Boy Scout badges in all and and said the process was challenging and very rewarding. He thanked his parents, Michael and Mary Keitz for inspiring and supporting him. Michael Keitz is the Madera County district attorney.

(The program) is great and about honor, integrity, service, leadership, hard work, fitness, kindness, helping others ... and so much more. I know I’ll take what I have learned here (in the Scouts) with me, whereever I go, “ Keitz said...
