2 more storms are expected

A 10th of an inch of rain fell Wednesday as the first part of a storm system expected in Madera this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Two more storms are expected Friday and Sunday with the possibility of leftover showers in between, said Paul Iniguez, a meteorologist for the NWS San Joaquin Valley Weather Forecast Office in Hanford.

Up to half an inch was expected to fall from Fresno County northward, with up to an inch in the foothills, the NWS reported Wednesday. The service predicted up to 10 inches of snow near 7,500 feet in Yosemite National Park, but generally above 8,000 feet.

The heaviest precipitation from the second storm is expected to be in the foothills and higher elevations of the Sierra, from Fresno County northward, where an inch or more of rain is likely, according to the NWS...
