Program aids researchers in genealogy

The Madera County Library is among those at the forefront of family research in Madera County and is taking part in a national movement to digitize historical documents.

The California History and Family Research Room continues to grow as the leading resource for Madera County history and that of surrounding counties.

Madera County Librarian Ellen Mester says the Library of Congress initiated a movement 10 years ago to digitize historical records.

Thanks to advances in technology and long-awaited funding, the Madera library has hit its stride with digitizing records in the last two years...
