A New Mexico-based artist will travel to Madera this week to hold two watercolor workshops for children on Thursday at the Madera County Library.

Kathryn Holmes, an early childhood education curriculum development specialist for Las Cruces Public Schools, draws on everything from landscapes to nursery rhymes and folk art from different cultures as inspiration for her watercolor paintings.

“Kathryn is very talented and has worked with children for many years,” said Ellen Mester, Madera County librarian. “We are very lucky to have her share her many talents with the children of Madera.” The first workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday for ages 4 to 8. The second will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for ages 9 to 14.

“There is no fee but we would like parents to sign up at the library so we can have enough supplies for everyone. Materials will be provided,” Mester said.
