Library to host canned food drive

The Madera County Library, along with the California Library Association and the Madera County Food Bank, will host “Acquire a Taste for Giving: The Reading Is So Delicious Canned Food Drive.”

The drive will be throughout the month of July and echoes the local and state library’s theme for their Summer Reading Program, “Reading Is So Delicious.”

Madera County Food Bank donation bins will be available at the library to collect contributions.

The library’s goal is to get 3,000 pounds of canned food. Teenagers who participate in the Summer Reading Program will be showing off their “canstruction” skills by building a giant ice cream cone in the library made entirely out of canned food donations, said Ellen Mester, Madera County librarian...
