Liberty wins county Mock Trial

For the first time in its three-year-existence, Liberty High School’s team won the Honorable Edward P. Moffat Madera County Mock Trial competition. It beat teams from Minarets and Yosemite high schools.

“Yosemite High School has won every year since 1985. I was also a student of Yosemite High School and so for me it means a lot for Liberty to win it now. It’s the first time that someone other than Yosemite has won since then, so that’s a really big accomplishment for us since our program is in its third year,” said Mac Blate, the teacher coach for Liberty High School.

Blate is a former student of Yosemite High School’s mock trial team teacher coach Deborah Brown.
