Fifty-four Liberty High students in Future Farmers of America (FFA) competed among 500 students at the East Fresno Madera FFA Sectional Opening Closing contest — the most ever “in this public speaking contest,” according to the Liberty club advisor.

Similar to a contest held at Madera South High School last week, students recited lines as old as the organization itself and were graded on several categories including poise and confidence.

Liberty FFA advisor Anne Katuin said this year’s group won the most Outstanding Officer awards she had seen in her time as advisor for the school.
