Leighton’s Jewelers founder Leighton Miller died Monday in his sleep. He was 86.

Miller and his wife, the former Pat Fischer, married in 1953 and founded the Madera business as Leighton’s Time Shop in 1956.

In addition to the original store in downtown Madera, they have a store in McNamara Center in Merced.

Today, two more generations of Millers have joined the business — twin sons Chris and Corey Miller and their children...
