A local nonprofit group, whose aim is to educate the community about Hispanic culture and empower Latina women, installed a new board and welcomed new members during its annual installation meeting at DiCicco’s Restaurant.

Installing officer Mary Ellen Koop instated Susan Arteaga as president, Carmen Sauceda as vice president, Matilda Torres as treasurer and Danielle Valenzuela as secretary. Former president Dolores Olmos-Rodriguez was thanked for her service.

The Latinas Unidas’ budget for 2013, fundraisers and events were also discussed during the meeting Thursday night.

The annual Latinas Unidas Super Bowl Enchilada Sale is set for Feb. 2. Proceeds benefit the group’s scholarship fund, which awards five local high school graduates $1,000 each. Chicken, beef and cheese enchiladas will be prepared that morning at John Adams Elementary, 1822 National Ave., and be ready for pick-up between noon and 2 p.m., said Sauceda. Enchiladas cost $15 a dozen and $8 for half. For information call Sauceda, 363-3676.
