More than 100 plants seized; 11 arrested
Madera County sheriff’s deputies and officers of the Madera Police Department raided a marijuana-growing operation of more than 100 plants on Road 28 1/4 near Ellis Street, and arrested 11 people they say were involved in the operation.
Arrests were made at two places, both involved in the production and sale of marijuana. The plants were grown at the Road 28 1/4 site, then taken to a house in the 18800 block of Road 26 where they were processed and prepared for sale.
Deputies said eight people had been taken into custody at the growing location and at least three more people were arrested at a ranch where the pot processing was taking place, just north of the Amtrak station.
The illegal marijuana growing and harvesting operation was reportedly discovered after it was seen by a deputy patrolling nearby. The growers had attempted to hide the plants from sight with shade fabric and other covers...
