Kiwanis honors law enforcement

The Madera Kiwanis Club handed out its annual Officer of the Year Awards to six public-safety officers chosen by their peers.

During the dinner at the Madera Golf and Country Club, the following received plaques and praise from their supervisors:

Deputy District Attorney Sally O. Moreno of the Madera County District Attorney’s Office, Deputy Richard Gonzales of the Madera County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Probation Officer Vikki Irby of the Madera County Probation Department, Officer Alberta Allen of the Madera County Department of Corrections, Officer Mark Cosentino of the California Highway Patrol and Officer Felix Gonzalez of the Madera Police Department.

Madera Police Chief Steve Frazier, who chairs the event for the Kiwanis Club, acted as master of ceremonies for the Thursday event.
