Children afflicted with orthopedic conditions or burns received free medical screenings and some were referred to Shriners Hospital for Children in Sacramento to be treated.
The Sacramento location is one of two Shriners hospitals in the state and 22 in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Patients are treated for burns and orthopedic conditions without regard of the patient’s ability to pay, according to the hospital’s website. To be treated, however, patients must be referred and sponsored by a Shriners chapter, said Michael Nella, the potentate of Tehran Shriners in Fresno.
