Kids fundraiser draws 50

A new local organization held its first fundraiser ever to help get started on its first project: sending kids in wheelchairs to a sports camp.

The dinner dance drew about 50 people, including some from out-of-state.

The Dennis Wayne Foundation, established by Eddie Block and his college friend Rick Clark three months ago, aims to help children with disabilities compete in sports. Block named the organization after his father, who passed away 29 years ago, when Block was 7 years old.

Block, who uses a wheelchair, was inspired to start the organization from his own childhood struggles...
