Job and resource fair targets veterans

A job and resource fair aimed to help veterans drew about 100 people on Thursday. Less than half of those who attended were veterans.

Organized by the Madera County Veterans Employment Committee, with the help of the California Employment Development Department, the fair included 15 employers and 23 resource agencies who targeted veterans and reservists returning from active duty. The event was open to anyone seeking employment, said Sarah Maokosy, the veterans employment representative for EDD.

“It’s turning out really great. It’s good to see the enthusiasm of the employers and the resource agencies. I just want to thank the agencies that come out here for their support,” said Charles Hunnicut, who is the Veterans Service Officer for Fresno and Madera counties.
